Macao Team Claimed the World 6th Place of Global Management Challenge 2020

The Global Management Challenge (GMC) 2020 International Final was held in the city of Nizhny Novgorod in Russia during September 27-29. Due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the Macao team could only participate online instead of present in Russia. In spite of the challenges brought about by COVID-19, the team had demonstrated resilience and given their best shots and had entered into the final round and eventually took home the World 6th Place in the competition.

 

The competition took place between Sept 28 and 29 from 9:45am to 6:00pm in Russia time zone and this was the first time to adopt an “online + offline” competition format to allow the event to continue despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The Macao representing team competed with the global teams from 22 countries and regions which had provided them with a truly rewarding experience. Portugal, China and India teams claimed the Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up respectively.

 

Mr. Lau Veng Seng, Council Chairman of Macau Management Association (MMA), as well as the organizer of GMC Macao Region remarked that although the Macao team is unable to present in Russia for the competition, they showed calmness and perseverance in adversity during the competition and had achieved satisfactory result. Mr. Lau commended for their efforts in preparing for the competition. GMC provides an invaluable opportunity to enrich the management knowledge of local young managers as well as to put the management skills into full use. There were 128 teams took part in the “Bank of China Trophy” GMC 2020 - Macao Region with 120 student teams and 8 corporate and mixed teams. Team Tulip comprised 3 undergraduate students from University of Macau and Macau University of Science and Technology: Ma Jingyi, Bai Jingyi and Xu Dongyang and represent Macao to compete with the elite teams across the globe in the International Final.
