GEG Co-organizes Screening of “The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru”

GEG has long been promoting national conditions among local youth and deepening their sense of patriotism through multi-faceted approaches. Recently, GEG and the Macau Management Association co-organized the 14th GEG Youth Achievement Program (YAP) – Macau Heart, China Root: “The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru” Movie Screening at the Galaxy Cinemas. Over 100 YAP participants and members from the Federation of Associations of Cultural Sectors of Macau were invited to watch this film, which won the Best Documentary/Educational Film Award at the 37th Golden Rooster Awards. Through real historical events, the film vividly portrays the selflessness and bravery of the Chinese nation in times of crisis.

As part of the “GEG National Education Series”, GEG hopes to deepen young people’s understanding of traditional Chinese virtues of selflessness and bravery, motivate them to actively promote Chinese culture, and tell China's story well while upholding the spirit of patriotism and love for Macau. YAP’s innovative model of blending patriotic education with cultural and recreational activities not only broadens the horizons of Macao’s youth but also ensures that patriotic education is advanced with sustained depth and real-world impact.
