The Survey on “Wealth Management Status of Macau Young Citizens 2017”

The press conference of “Wealth Management Status of Macau Young Citizens 2017” was held on 5th December, 2017, hosted by Mr. Tommy Lau, MMA Council Chairman and Mr. Kevin Lei, MMA Project Consultant. By conducting this survey, we aim to enhance public awareness of the importance of financial planning.

The survey reveals that 68% of Macau young people have savings habits, despite recognizing the importance of saving for the future. Only 14% of all people interviewed have no savings, either spending all of their income or are running a deficit. To examine the financial management habits and preferences of Macau young people, 1020 questionnaires were collected from April to August to conduct “Wealth Management Status of Macau Young Citizens 2017”. Survey respondents were aged between 16 and 39

It is suggested that the Government and social organizations to promote the concept of financial planning and thus help young people maintain a disciplined saving habit and is instrumental in achieving long-term financial goals.
