Thematic seminar: the personal data protection tips to HR executives

The thematic seminar “the personal data protection tips to HR executives” organised by the Human Resources Professionals Club was held on 26th April 2024, with the attendance of Mr. Keegan Cheang, MMA Council Vice-Chairman and HR Club Chairman; Mr. Benjamin Hong, HR Club member; Ms. Joyce Choi, HR Club member and Ms. Jodie Lam, MMA Secretary General. This seminar invited Mr. Ho Heng Lam, the Senior Technician of the Personal Data Protection Bureau (PDPB), to share the theme of Personal Data Protection Law application in the workplace. The seminar also attracted many Human Resource practitioners from various industries.

During the seminar, Mr. Ho gave detailed explanations on the application and enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Law in the workplace, explaining in the respective rights and obligations of the handling department and the data subjects, the principles of handling personal data and the importance of data security, as well as the legal liabilities and consequences of violating the relevant laws. Mr. Ho also illustrated his points by using real cases that allowed participants to gain a more comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the contents.

The Human Resources Professionals Club is a specialised group under MMA. Aiming to build a platform for human resources practitioners in Macao to communicate and learn from each other. HR Club members can share experience and information with each other. The aim of HR Club is to better promote the development of human resources management in Macao.
