Press Conference of “Survey on Labor Mobility of Macau Citizens 2022”

Organized by MMA, sponsored by Macau Foundation, the press conference of “Survey on Labor Mobility of Macau Citizens 2022” was held on January 10, 2023 (Tuesday), hosted by Mr. Tommy Lau, Council Chairman of MMA, Dr. Samuel Tong, President of MIM as well as Ms. Rain Lok, Senior Manager of Training & Consultancy Division. Ms. Jodie Lam, Secretary General of MMA and Mr. Kuok Tong Chio, Deputy General Manager of Inclusive Financial Business Division of ICBC Macau attended the conference.

 

A total of 1,013 valid questionnaires of survey were obtained, response results tended to be negative due to the negative impact during the “618” epidemic of 2022. Over 70% of respondents believed that epidemic is the mainly reason to cause varying degrees of influence on labor mobility and job-hopping intentions. The survey also shows that more than 20% of all respondents with totally unclear career planning. In the meantime, improving compensation and welfare as well as increase promotion chances will be the best approach for employees’ retention.

 

Moreover, over 30% respondents have no idea and relevant awareness to the development policies of Greater Bay Area, only 12.34% and 1.88% of them are willing and extremely willing to work in the cities of Greater Bay Area respectively. The survey is recommended to strengthen collaboration among government, enterprises and educational institutions, creating more employment chances in Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, employees have to improve their skills; likewise, enterprises need to offer fair opportunities and competitive compensation for employees as well.
