GMC 2021 International Final Concluded With a Great Success

Global Management Challenge (GMC) 2021 International Final was held in Santiago de Compostela in Spain during October 3-5 this year. Due to the impact of Covid-19, Macao representing team was unable to present in Spain. Under the arrangement of Macau Management Association (MMA), the organizer of GMC Macao Region, Macao team was allowed to compete online with other global teams at the head office of MMA. After several rounds of fierce competing, Macao team bow out in the semi-final and was unable to advance to the final round.

The semi-final of the competition took place on October 4 from 9:15am to 5:30pm in Spain time zone. This was the second time that the competition was conducted offline merged with online after the pandemic. The Macao representing team competed with the global teams from 14 countries and regions and regrettably could not make it to the final, however, it was a truly fruitful and rewarding experience. Georgia eventually claimed the World Champion while the 1st and 2nd Runners-up went to China and India respectively.

Mr. Lau Veng Seng, the organizer of GMC Macao Region as well as the Council Chairman of MMA said that the International Final of this edition fell on the National Holiday, nevertheless, Macao team had devoted themselves with their concerted efforts and had demonstrated determination and done their utmost during the competition which was a glorious defeat and was commendable, despite the team could not enter into the final round. GMC provides an invaluable opportunity for local young managers to enrich their management knowledge as well as to improve their capabilities in management and decision-making. Participants could keep a clear understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses through competing with the outstanding teams from all four corners of the world, and they are allowed to do what is needed systems-wise through strategic deployment and efficient implementation, so as to consolidate their strengths, shore up their shortcomings, and enhance their self-professional capabilities and standards.

There were 110 teams took part in the GMC 2021 - Macao Region with 102 student teams and 8 corporate and mixed teams. Student team “BlackmicroCredit” from Macau University of Science & Technology eventually won the candidacy for the International Final and compete with the elites around the globe.
